What do we treat?

Back pain: As you go though life, a slight loss of proper movement of the bones/joints can interfere with the healthy working of your spine, and the nerves that pass through it. This can lead to pain.
We, unlike painkillers, treat the cause of the problem by using specific manual adjustments to free up the stiff joint(s).

Slipped/prolapsed disc: Spinal discs are fibrous rings, containing a soft gel-like ‘cushion’, between each of your spinal bones called vertebrae. Discs cannot slip as they are firmly attached to the vertebrae, but the term ‘slipped disc’ means disc damage such as a bulge or rupture.
This results in pressure or irritating on the nerves as they exits the lower spine and give rise to low back pain often radiating down the leg. You may also experience tingling or numbness in the leg.

Sciatica: means leg pain. It is often caused by nerve irritation or pressure in the lower spine. The chiropractor will explain the cause of your pain – it may not be a ‘slipped disc’ as many other problems have similar pain patterns.

Bearsden Chiropractic

Neck pain: your neck supports the weight and movement of your head and also contains the vast majority of nerves that connect from your brain to the rest of the body. Losing the proper movement in the joints of your neck may interfere with the healthy working of the nerves. This can lead to pain.
Driving, computer work, repetitive lifting and poor posture all put a lot of strain on the neck joints and muscles.

Headaches: problems affecting the bones (vertebrae) in your neck can cause headaches and be a contributory factor in both migraines and tension headaches.
Chiropractic helps by relieving tightness in your neck/shoulder muscles and by improving mobility in the joints of the neck and upper back.

Whiplash: Rather than just a simple sprain to the muscles and ligaments of the neck, research shows that during a road traffic accident involving a rear-end shunt, the neck curves in an abnormal S- shape which grossly alters normal neck movement. Chiropractic treatment restores the movement of the joints and relaxes the neck muscles.

Wear and tear: Like tooth decay, degeneration of your joints happens without you knowing about it and it happens - slowly - to all of us. Generally, our bodies compensate for this, and we feel little or no pain. However slight loss of proper movement in a worn joint may cause nerve irritation and inflammation which could lead to pain.
We can’t stop you getting old, but we might stop you feeling it! by improving the muscle and joint function.

Sports injuries: Pulled hamstring, groin strain, achilles tendon problems, tennis elbow, and rotator cuff (shoulder) sprains.

As well as speeding up your recovery from injury your chiropractor can enhance your performance by improving your control and co-ordination, and help prevent future problems.

Servicing your spine: Regular check-ups can help keep your body in good working order. Don’t wait for problems to start.

Neurological problems: At the Bearsden Chiropractic Clinic we have special interest in chiropractic neurology. This is a branch of Chiropractic that involves the treatment of the peripheral and central nervous system without the use of drugs or surgery. Instead it relies on the fact that your nervous system, brain and spinal cord need the stimulation from receptors in your body to function properly. Please go to the Chiropractic Neurology section for more information.
