How do you diagnose DDS
The parent completes a detailed questionnaire with regard to the birth of their child, history of their child’s health, learning/behavioural problems and the child’s development history. From this information and the results from various neurological and orthopedic tests, we can determine the regions of the brain that are under functioning or aberrant.
What treatment can you offer to help my child with DDS that I haven’t tried already?
There are a variety of treatments for children with development and/or behavioural problems. These range from music therapy, exercise therapy, vision therapy, diet therapy and/or manipulation therapy. We offer all of the above and more. We have managed to source a number of computer generated software programs from Sweden and the USA that are specifically designed to stimulate the regions of the brain that are typically under functioning in DDS children.
How many treatments will it take to correct the DDS in my child?
We are unable to say specifically how many treatments your child would need without first examining your child and completing a thorough case history. As a rough guide, we would expect to see a profound improvement in your child’s signs and symptoms after six months, in the mild to moderate DDS child. We would see your child two weeks after the initial consultation and monthly there after. We would then reassess your child after six months to determine if any further treatments are required.
Do I need the computer software.
Two of the computer software programs are chargeable. Your child may need none, one or both of these programs, depending upon the type and severity of your child’s DDS. If required, the computer software is loaded onto your computer for your child to use each day at home. The software programs will systematically assess your child’s ability to carry out certain tasks and then focus in on the areas where your child’s brain needs the most rehabilitation. We loan other computer software (no charge) and ‘brain stimulating’ music CDs (no charge) and they are then returned to us at the end of your child’s treatment.
Does the chiropractic treatment hurt?
No. The type of chiropractic treatments that we use is gentle but very effective.
Will my child have to do exercises at home?
Yes. It is very important to the successful outcome of the treatment, that you and your child are totally committed to a ‘home therapy programs’. This will take a lot of effort from you and your child. Your child will have to carry out daily exercises (until the necessary corrections are made) and it is up to you to manage and monitor their progress.
